    1. Observe, describe and compare rocks as to color, shape, hardness and texture.
    2.  Describe characters of rock.
    3. Show carefulness in observing, describing and comparing rocks.

    Values: Appreciation of the usefulness of rocks.

II. Subject Matter:

   Characteristics of Rocks
a.      PELC p. ,Into the Future ; Science and Health 5pp.
b.      Rocks differ in size, shape, color, weight, hardness, texture and size of particles
c.       Observing, describing, comparing
d.      Picture of places where rocks are found like river banks, beaches etc.

 III. Procedure:

A.  Preparatory activities
      Review: What are the different layers of the Earth?

B. Development activities
     1. Motivation
            Showing picture of places where rocks are usually found. Can you identify the place?
Where will you go to look for different rocks? Why?

    2. Presentation/ Activity
        a. Showing the layers of the Earth. Explaining the solid part of the Earth’s crust is made up of great masses of rocks. Telling the pupils that rocks are found in many places even at the bottom of the ocean.

        b. How do rocks differ from one another?

        c. Asking the pupils to bring out rock samples gathered from different places in the community.
